Visiting the elephants

Our second trip to the zoo was this June.  The Denver Zoo had undergone a huge project of re-doing the elephant enclosure and we went right after the opening weekend.  Of course Keagan wanted his best friend John to come along to meet the elephants again in their new house.   This trip to the zoo was much better weather than our first trip last Sept which was cold and drizzly.  We brought the stroller but  Keagan felt the need to "walk" John around the enclosure to make sure we did not lose John.  We are grateful that we have such a conscientious child.

Keagan loved to watch the huge elephants walk around their new enclosure as evidenced by this picture.  We could not convince him to look at the camera.  We felt like he was saying - Mom we don't see elephants every day :)

Here are the boys together enjoying their time at the zoo!

Not only did the elephants get a new place to live, a number of other animals also got new homes.  This black rhino wanted to say hi to Keagan by climbing down the moat and he ended up less than 5 feet away from us.  Keagan seemed to know that the rhino wanted to talk to him as he was squirming in my  arms to get a better look at the rhino.

Look mom.  I see more animals!

Now I am going to run and see them.  Just try to catch me!

We ended the day with piggy back rides.  Keagan just had a blast riding up high so he could see everything that much better.  Pulling mommy's hair was an added activity to the wonderful day at the zoo.
