Doctor Dog

Hannah dressed up as a doctor this Halloween with her puppy Keagan as a patient.  It was a tremendous hit.  We entered a dog contest with over 40 contestants and we made it to the finals and won 4th place overall.  I could not have been more thrilled.
Hannah actually seemed to like her costume this year - partly because every one would stop and pet her and tell her what a good dog she was for leaving her costume alone.  She even left the hairnet in place most of the time and every one thought it was so cute!  Keagan actually did not mind his puppy costume either and actually left the ears up for quite some time.  Now where it was time to put the hood down - he was done but overall he loved it.  The best part for him was getting the whiskers on his face.  He loved that mom was making him dirty on purpose.

Of course we could not have done the contest without a little help.  Neighbor John took Hannah around while Mom wrangled Keagan to make sure we did not have another Code Adam.  It is so great to have a friend that loves the dog as much as we do!

Such a Good Little Helper

Keagan loves to help me do morning chores for the horses.  He loves to pet them and make sure they know how much he loves them.  Then he checks their water buckets and drag them over to the water hose for me to refil.

Then we move on to cleaning the stalls.  He is very helpful and will point out if I forget to clean a spot. He just loves to help make sure they are taken care of well :)

First Snow Storm

Keagan got to experience his first snowstorm this fall.  He was very concerned about the white precipitation last night and kept pointing at the window and running away.  This morning when he woke up he kept pointing to the white stuff and kept talking....if we could only understand what he was saying.  We got all dressed up in his winter coat we have nick named 'Puffy' and his boots.  We was not so sure about touching the white stuff and tenatively stomped it.  I know that as we experience more of the snow, soon Keagan will love it too!

Fall Festival

We went into Parker to do the fall festival activities.  Keagan loved the straw maze and figured it out the first time through.  He liked all the blow up Halloween characters as well but was ready for a nap when we were all finished

Code Adam

My Little Badger
I have joined the legion of parents that know what Code Adam means if you are out at the store.  It was raining and so we didn't get any outside time or a walk for Hannah so I loaded up the kids and went to our local farm store - Big R where our dog is welcome.  We had so much fun running around the clothing section when all of the sudden I turned around and Keagan was gone.  I looked in the clothes racks, went over to the shoe section and he was no where to be found.  Unfortunately Hannah did not help me find him - she just looked at me like 'I don't know where he went?!?'  Aren't dog noses supposed to be helpful?  So I found a store associate and told her I was missing my son and out the CODE ADAM went.  They locked down the store and everyone started to look for him.  Within 30 seconds they found him shopping on his own walking up and down the aisles half way across the store.  He had even found a squeegee he wanted to purchase.  He was not worried - just pointed at his mom like 'there you are - look at all this cool stuff I found!'   Unfortunately I know where he gets this from as I used to hide in the middle of clothes racks and wander the store on my own when I was little as well.  We are now off to Walmart to find a leash for my son because I know it won't stop here :)

Another GoodWill Run

One of the last nice days this month we broke in Keagan's latest set of wheels.  This trike is still a little too big for Keagan to reach to pedals with every turn but the handy part is the parent control up top.  He loves to sit on the trike and have a death grip on the handle.  It even has big enough wheels we can take it out on the trails to walk Hannah.  With the handle we can steer him up and down all those hills.  We love GoodWill!

Our other new purchase was this smaller slide to take downstairs for the winter.  Keagan loves his outdoor slide we decided that an indoor slide this winter to help take his mind off his brother would not be a bad idea when the weather outside is not cooperating.

Boys Will Be Boys

Look at the egg on my head
We had our first big BONK on his head last week.  Let me set the story...I had just brought up a load of towels to fold and was half way through when Keagan spotted me. Keagan hates to see folded towels.  I am not sure where his fascination with towels comes from but when he sees folded towels laying around he just has to redistribute them.  So we had towels all over the floor and mom could not pick them up fast enough.  He tripped over a fallen towel and hit his head on the leg of our coffee table.
Ouch mommy!
He stopped crying once I picked him up and we could not see the bump at first as his bangs hid the spot but once I saw the egg forming on his head - Keagan picked up my anxiety and started crying in earnest.  Once we got him stopped we just had to take pictures and he was such a good sport.

I am a big boy now - my first battle wound:)

Fall is Here

Look at my runny nose mom

Keagan brought in this cooler fall weather with a little cold early this October.  He tries to be so good when he is not feeling well but he needs lots of extra kisses and hugs and that always makes him
feel better.  He is so cute and already knows how to blow his nose when you hold up the kleenex.  I guess he doesn't like it when we wipe his nose:)

Once he started feeling better he has just been playing away.  He has been outside so much this summer that he sort of forgot about his toys.  Now that we are indoors more often he has been having fun reconnecting with some of his forgotten toys.
Playing with his own computer - just like mom and dad

Bath time is always fun and helps to get us warmed up.  Keagan and I take baths together and he has so much fun splashing mommy.  It is like his own private swimming pool.  When we get done he puts on his little bathrobe to help dry out his butt before it goes into a diaper.  He thinks it is pretty cool to look like mommy :)
I am coming in to help you Hannah!

Once we are finished with our chores in the day it is time to feed the dog.  Keagan is now in charge of feeding her and he takes his job so seriously.  I have to help him fill the cup to feed her but he does the rest.  We have to lock Hannah in the play room to eat her meals as she always takes awhile to eat.  Keagan generally likes to help her eat her food - so we lock her away.  This doesn't stop Keagan from trying to get in to help her.

Pumpkin Patch

We went into Parker to a little Pumpkin Patch to get our Halloween pumpkins for carving.  We had a fun time getting to know the scarecrows but they were a little suspicious and Keagan had to consider them for awhile before going up to them.  We can't wait until we carve those beautiful pumpkins.
