A weekend in Chicago

We flew to Chicago the first weekend of October to attend Jeff's sister - Elizabeth - wedding.  We had a great time in our old stomping grounds.  We went and had dim sum at our old favorite place in Chinatown and of course got Keagan in touch with his Chinese roots.

The ceremony was beautiful and Elizabeth looked amazing in her wedding gown.  Keagan tried to be quiet during the ceremony but (this seems to be the trend lately) Keagan had refused to take his afternoon nap... before the wedding.  He was a good little man and managed to stay awake for the family pictures and then crashed.  It was great as he got passed around to most of the family member and did not put up a fuss.  He slept through the whole reception but woke up later to have a great time with Sandy's kids - Adam and Andrew.  We wish we lived closer to family.

Keagan's is King of the Playground

 We love Craig's list and found this used playset for sale in Elizabeth.  Keagan just could not be happier with his new playground.  It has 2 slides to choose from - both complete with crash pads - thanks to Hannah. The dog beds that have just gotten too old for the house work great outside and provide a soft landing.

 And the other best thing is the crawl through tunnel.  Keagan loves to do sneaky sneaky (where he crouches down and crawls).  Sometimes the cats even join in the fun and do sneakys with him.

 But the best part of the playground is being able to climb like a monkey.  Keagan just looks at me like - I think this thing was meant to climb on mom!  And it is :)  Now we can play on the playground every day and don't even have to travel.  I think this will come in handy when we have the second one around this winter and he won't be able to go outside as much.

Marker Boy

 Oh so proud of himself after returning from Hawaii!  Keagan was being quiet one morning and mom just knew she had to stop washing the dishes to find out what was going on.  Luckily I have a polite baby that decided to suck on the marker on the tile floor.  He only managed to get marker on his face and hands...not even his pjs and luckily not on the carpet.  I could have been mad but I was just laughing as he was having so much fun.  So I grabbed the camera and took some pictures of my naughty little man.  In the end it was no problem as some one with sense had given me washable markers and the ink just came off in a flash.  What a silly man :)

The Road to Hana

 Keagan enjoyed the naps along the way to Hana.  It was an overcast day so it was not too bright to see all the sights.  The swaying road back and forth tended to put him to sleep, but when he was up he enjoyed the waterfalls and hikes that we did.

 At Black Rock Beach near Hana - Keagan's eyes just got wide.  All of those rocks to play with was an amazing site for little Keagan.  He would find the best ones and redistribute them to different family members.  He even tried to give Grandma a rock massage.

Overall it was an excellent day but you can only expect the little one to be good in the car for so long.  

Fun at the Tropical Plantation

 We had a great time at the Maui Tropical Plantation and tram tour. We were very lucky we were the only ones on the train and felt like we got a personal tour of the grounds.

 Keagan got to help with the coconut demonstration and helped make sure she picked the right coconut to cut into.  We got to learn all about Maui agriculture and overall had a fantastic time!

 

Once we were done we got to walk around the grounds as well.  Keagan really liked the ducks until they got a little too close for comfort.  Mom thought it was funny videotaping the ducks until one bit her on the big toe!  Ha Ha Mom

 We tried to get some pictures at the beautiful grounds and Keagan thought it was ok to get pictures taken today.  Especially if he had a flower in his hair.

 But to end the day we did 1-2-3 with Keagan which is one of his favorite games to play.  He loves being lifted up in the air and he gets to hold both mom and dad's hands!

 Keagan had a big day which ended at the Old Lahania Luau.  Unfortunately he just would not take a nap during the day as he felt he would just miss out on something exciting.  So...by the time we made it to the luau he was a little overtired and full of energy. The virgin "Lava Flow" drink that mom picked up did not help one bit.  Keagan loved it but you can imagine the sugar high he was on while we were waiting to get our food.  Maybe not mom's best idea!

Although Keagan had a good time, he did not want to sit still for the pictures.  We got a few candid shots before the final spin around the table occurred and he was wiped out for the night.

Keagan had a great time with Grandpa or occasionally Grandma while mom and dad went off into the water to go snorkeling (Grandma found out how much she liked seeing all the neat sea life).  Keagan stayed safely on shore and at times I think the had more fun than we did.

At the Dumps -our first snorkel spot Keagan loved all the big black rocks to crawl all over.  He also got to see some wild goats and of course there were very nice dogs.

At Mile Marker 14 he got to chase the crabs back down their little holes.  It is always so much fun to stick his fingers in the holes too and luckily he did not get pinched!

At Honolua Bay the big draw were the chickens all over the place.  Keagan just loved running around after the chickens.  He also stayed at the trail head and would point out the chickens to all of those people passing by.  If he needed a break he always had his trusty shovel and bucket to pick up rocks and carry them around.
