Splish, Splash

Smiling and Splashing at Parker Rec Center
Friend the Hippo plays in the pool with us

Keagan loves to chase the ball around the pool

Although we are still experiencing teething....very slowly (I thought once they started coming through the gums they would just pop up), we are being distracted by our swimming lessons.  Daddy just got back from California after taking his board exam and attended the lessons with us to get some video and pictures.  I don't know how to load the video so the following pictures show how much he loves his swimming lessons. After I dunked him under the water on our 3rd lesson, all his worries were gone.  He started splashing up a storm and really hasn't stopped.  We have even discovered we have a swimming pool in the house - the bath tub.  So we are all set until our housing division pool opens in May.  We may be daily visitors to the pool this summer.

Keagan's favorite activity - jumping in the pool

This is the way we end the morning with a nap.
JC, Eden and Hannah are helping us sleep well.
I think we would be sad to have tomorrow as our last day, but we are leaving to go visit Tera, Ben and baby Andrew on Thursday and Mommy couldn't be more excited. Hopefully the plane ride will be uneventful and Keagan won't feel the need to get up and stretch his little legs unless it is in Detroit where we have our lay-over:)

Toothless smile

Always on the move and so QUICK!
Look Mom!  No hands!
Keagan has been practing standing all with no assistance :)

Keagan LOVES to do 'So big"
I love how he reaches just as far as those little fingers will go!

A future in computers?  We will see ;)
Well, Keagan has finally entered into the teething stage.  We have been waiting patiently (and Brynn hasn't minded much) for Keagan's little teeth to start coming through his gums.  Well tonight after yet another day of clinging Keagan, I finally did my daily sweep of his mouth and there it is!  Just the tiniest edge of a tooth.  Now I can't see it, but I can feel it with my finger.  I suspect the next few days may be a little worse but at least teething time is finally here.  Keagan has been drooling and rubbing in gums for months now and everyone has said just a few more days but it just hasn't happened.  Hopefully he will get through this milestone without too many days of feeling miserable.
Feeling miserable in the big prision

I am not sure how he can feel too miserable though as we are attending swimming lessons every morning.  The pool is a little cooler than I thought they would have it for little ones, but other than that Keagan seems to be enjoying the water.  He hasn't cried in the water but he is not his normal smiley self either.  Our instructor keeps reassuring me he is one of the better babies as he hasn't cried yet!  His favorite activity is "jumping" into the water. Basically he stands at the edge of the pool and I lift him into the water to "jump" to me in the water.  The best thing about the swimming lessons is that it wears him out and he takes a nice nap afterwards.  Reward for mommy!!  All in all, I am glad we have this extra activity that hopefully will keep his mind off his mouth and focused on the water. Pictures to come next week.
Happy to be going to swlmming lessons

Happy Feet

Go Broncos! This may be his last chance to wear this outfit:)
Playing with his buddy JC

Keagan has figured out how to move those feet. It seems that every day this year he figures out how to do something new - which isn't hard since there are only 14 days of this year so far. While Grandma and Grandpa were here he could pull himself up and sort of get around. Now he is lightening fast. We turn around and he is in the next room. I guess that is what happens when he finally got those feet to go forward. Whether he is in his walker or on our fingers zooming around the kitchen or on those knees crawling around the entire house we are on the lookout for crazy baby. We had to deconstruct our front room and now it is a play room with a big gate to keep him locked in. Thank goodness we have the room to rearrange the house!

Crawling around his play room

Our other favorite thing he does now is "so big" He puts up his arms and now he claps afterwords.  We think this is so cute

We miss you Grandma and Grandpa

Happy to watch the Badgers play on Jan 2nd... Sad to see them lose:(
Grandma and Grandpa even brought him this Badger Onesie for good luck

We had an amazing visit with Grandma and Grandpa Hanson.  They flew in on Sat Dec 31st and were on call to babysit while Jeff slept for his upcoming holiday shift and Brynn was at work.  On Sunday Jan 1st, the baptismal service was a wonderful way to bring in the new year.

Getting ready to be baptised Jan 1st

Since it was a new year Keagan decided to jump ahead with so many of his skills.  Grandma and Grandpa got to watch Keagan get stronger everyday with standing and walking.  All the new toys they got him have accelerated his growth and loves to work at getting stronger every day.

As grandma and grandpa found out after being here a week, Keagan has graduated to walking on our fingers - although it seems like a brisk walk to me, heck it is almost a run at times.  He crawls around at his will and you never know what he will get into next.  Like crawling over to see the fish at the Aquarium restrauant in downtown Dener.

We kept Keagan busy while the grandparents were here.  Watching the National Stock Show Parade after touring the US Mint. Seeing Sue the T-Rex at the Science Museum.   Attending the Stock Show where Keagan got his first ride with mom in the saddle (no horses were involved!)
Enjoying the 50 degree weather for the Stock Show Parade
OK - maybe Keagan will ride jumpers too!

Of course, this would make a baby tired and his favorite place to sleep with with either one of his grandparents.  We can't wait for our next visit.

Happy New Year

Pastor Lyn at Joy Lutheran with a sleepy baby Keagan after the baptism

We began the new year with Keagan's baptism at Joy Lutheran Church in Parker, CO yesterday Janurary 1st, 2012.  It was an absolutely beautiful ceremony and he did great.  Although he was wondering why he was getting wet as he already had his bath, he didn't say a peep.  Then after Pastor Lyn handed us the hankerchief from the ceremony, Keagan took it and played with it.  Grandma and Grandpa Hanson were there for the baptism as well as "honorary grandpa" John.

It was an absolutely wonderful way to start the new year.  As Jeff said the first time we put on his baptism outfit, he looked like a little angel - and then the statement was ammended to - or well....a little girl. After all he was wearing a gown of sorts.
